A Reasonable Introduction

A little bit about me, and why I’m happy to call myself a reasonable runner.

Welcome to my corner of the world! I am going to use this first post to tell you a bit about myself, and why I am looking forward to sharing more with you!

My name is Rachel, a long-time Maine resident, and a fairly recent Colorado convert (but truly, a lover of both). I have been a runner for about six years now, the first four at home in the gorgeous ocean state of Maine, and the most recent two here in the glorious Rockies of Colorado. Over the last six years, I have run 5K’s, 7K’s, 5-milers, 10-milers, 10Ks, half marathons, and thousands of my own miles. From oceanside runs, to pavement races, to hill climbs, to trail races; in the heat, the rain, the blowing wind, the snow, the slush, and the sleet, I’ve lived and loved the runner’s life.

I started to take running seriously in 2016, when I began to prepare for my first race, a 5K. I never thought I could be a runner, or would ever have the physical ability to be a good one. Those people that ran half-marathons? I thought they were crazy, but before long, I got it. I understood, it wasn’t just exercise, it was power, it was freedom, it was drive and achievement. I didn’t need to be a super-athlete to be a runner, I could simply, be me.

I have never had dreams of being a medal winner, breaking marathon records, or making running my life. I want to run for me, in a way that fits me, and can be adapted around real life. We all know that our routines rarely remain the same for long, and running is incredibly adaptable and perfect for daily life.

My hope is that this site helps to provide you with practical tips on how to make running enjoyable for your life. I want to encourage you in the running goals you have, and answer the running questions that I spent plenty of time Googling over the last six years!

I have a drive to run, and a passion for balance. The marriage of these two principles have made me, The Reasonable Runner.
